On March 23-25, 2023, Wharton BDAP hosted the 9th edition of the Reg@Tech Roundtable at The Wharton School in Philadelphia. The three-day roundtable was titled “The Future of Digital Asset Regulation”.

The first day addressed the key developments and pending issues in relevant jurisdictions, titled “The State of Digital Asset Regulation.” The second session was a presentation on “Measuring Blockchain Decentralization” by J.P. Vergne from the University College London, followed by a discussion. Participants were also divided into pre-assigned working groups to develop recommendations on a particular topic.

The second day of the workshop began with sessions titled “Re-Gaining (or Gaining) Trust” and “Toward a Shared Vision of Risk Management.” Participants resumed their working groups and presented their reports, followed by discussions.

On the final day of the seminar, participants discussed the tension between national legal systems and the global nature of permissionless blockchains in a session titled “Digital Asset Regulation as a Global Phenomenon.” The seminar concluded with a session on next steps.
